BIOGRAPHY
British-Australian mezzo-soprano, Jane Frith, initially pursued an acting career after training at David Mamet’s, New York Atlantic Theatre Company, Sydney annex, Australia. She commenced singing opera privately with coaches of Opera Australia and currently studies in London with Jane Highfield, former Professor of the Guildhall and the Royal College of Music.
Jane’s operatic experience includes Idamante, Idomeneo (Rose Opera), Dorabella, Cosi fan tutte (Instant Opera), Marcellina, Le nozze di Figaro (Thames Philharmonia Opera), Laura, Iolanta (Rose Opera), Juno, Semele (Richmond Opera), Counsel, Trial by Jury (Isleworth Baroque Opera), Dido, Dido & Aeneas (London Opera Players) and Ruth, Pirates of Penzance (Savoy Arts Company).
Opera scenes she has enjoyed singing are Carmen, Carmen, and Jane Seymour, Anna Bolena (Barefoot Opera), Maddalena, Rigoletto, and Cesare, Giulio Cesare (Edinburgh Fringe Festival), Hänsel, Hänsel und Gretel, The Composer and Dryad, Ariadne auf Naxos, Mignon, Mignon (Morley Opera), Lucretia, The Rape of Lucretia, Mother, Hänsel und Gretel, Third Lady, Die Zauberflöte, and Cecilio, Lucia Silla (Birkbeck Opera Diploma).
Oratorio engagements include Pergolesi’s, Stabat Mater, Vivaldi’s, Gloria (Richmond Opera), Bach’s, Christmas Oratorio (Queen’s Park Singers), Mendelssohn’s, Elijah and Handel’s, Theodora (Inner West Chamber Choir, Sydney, Australia). She has sung Handel’s, Messiah, in Sydney’s Royal Opera House as part of the Festival of Choral Music.
Jane’s concert engagements have included the Queen Elizabeth Foundation’s annual Christmas gala, singing excerpts from Handel’s, Messiah. She has produced concerts and recitals in London singing Rosina, Il barbiere di Siviglia, Cherubino, Le nozze di Figaro, Ottavia, L’Incoronazione di Poppea and Peep-Bo, The Mikado.
Jane is an active member of Australia House Creatives, an initiative hosted by Jay Wetherill AO, Australian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, championing the careers of Australian creatives in the UK and acting as a gateway for parters across the UK cultural sector.
